Eurozone unemployment rate holds steady at 6.2% in March

The European Statistical Office "Eurostat" announced that the unemployment rate in the Eurozone remained stable at 6.2% of the workforce in March, unchanged since December.

In a statement released on Friday, Eurostat noted that the unemployment rate is at its lowest level since the office began recording this data in April 1998 for countries using the single currency.

The agency indicated that after reporting a 6.1% unemployment rate in February, the figure was revised upward by 0.1 percentage points in March.

Over the past year, the unemployment rate in the 20-nation Eurozone fell by 0.3 percentage points. Across the entire European Union, the unemployment rate remained stable at 5.8% since December—the lowest level on record.

Eurostat added that the number of unemployed people in the EU's 27 member states in March was approximately 12.9 million, including 10.8 million in the Eurozone.

The unemployment rate in France stood at 7.3%, down 0.1 percentage points from February, while Germany recorded 3.5%, and Italy 6%.

Within the EU, the lowest unemployment rates were observed in the Czech Republic (2.6%) and Poland (2.7%), while the highest rates were in Spain (10.9%), Finland (9.1%), and Greece (9%).
