29 people were injured after a strong earthquake hit Razavi Khorasan Province in northeastern Iran on Thursday morning.
The Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that the earthquake measured 5 on the Richter scale in the affected area.
Earlier on Thursday, Iranian media had reported 19 injuries from the quake, which struck five cities in Razavi Khorasan at 05:10 local time (04:40 Moscow time), at a depth of 10 kilometers underground.
Mehr News Agency stated, "Although the earthquake did not cause any material damage, it resulted in 29 injuries."
It added that all injuries occurred as people attempted to flee during the quake. After receiving necessary treatment, all but one of the injured were discharged from the hospital.
The earthquake affected residents in several cities within Razavi Khorasan Province, including Torbat-e Heydarieh, Roshtkhar, Gonabad, and Taybad.
Mehr also noted that the tremor was felt in the provincial capital, Mashhad, but did not confirm whether there were any injuries in the city.
