The African Union announced the lifting of sanctions on Gabon following the successful transitional period that began with a military coup in August 2023.
This transitional period resulted in the adoption of a new constitution and presidential elections in April 2025, won by General Brice Oligui Nguema, returning the country to constitutional order.
