Russian Envoy at ICJ: Palestinians in Gaza Are Starving
[30/ April/2025]
Hague - Saba:
A representative of the Russian delegation stated on Wednesday that hospitals in the Gaza Strip have been reduced to ruins, and Palestinians are starving and being persecuted across Gaza and the West Bank.

In his address before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the third day of hearings in The Hague, the Russian envoy emphasized that Israel’s actions against the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) constitute a blatant violation of international law.

He added that no other entity can compensate for UNRWA’s role in securing the needs of the Palestinian people, stressing that Israel’s arbitrary measures against the agency set a dangerous precedent in the history of the United Nations.

The envoy further noted that Israel disregards UN demands and continues its violations in the West Bank.

He warned that the Knesset’s legislation to halt UNRWA’s operations would worsen the humanitarian crisis for Palestinians.

Additionally, he asserted that criminalizing the work of UNRWA staff contradicts international laws and conventions, paving the way for the disruption of other international organizations.

The Russian representative stressed that Israel, as an occupying power, has a duty to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.

For the third consecutive day, public hearings continue in The Hague regarding an advisory opinion on Israel’s obligations toward the UN and its agencies in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Notably, on March 18, 2025, the Israeli regime resumed its aggression and tightened its siege on Gaza after a two-month pause under a ceasefire agreement that took effect on January 19. However, Israel repeatedly violated the terms of the truce during that period.
