The Agricultural and Fishery Production Promotion Fund and the Agricultural Cooperative Union signed an agreement today to enhance the quality of agricultural and fishery production by financing a project to implement solar drying "chambers" for dates and agricultural and fishery products.
The agreement, signed by the Executive Director of the Fund, Engineer Abdulwahab Al-Ashwal, and the Chairman of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak Al-Qaili, includes funding the provision of solar drying equipment for dates and various products. The Agricultural Cooperative Union will be responsible for distributing the equipment to agricultural cooperatives.
The project aims to improve the quality of locally produced dates, reduce waste, which currently reaches 30%, and lessen reliance on imports by boosting high-quality domestic production.
The project is especially important for optimizing the use of agricultural and fishery products outside their production seasons through solar drying technology, thereby contributing to food security.
