Moscow - (Saba):
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced on Wednesday that Russia is concerned about the "tariff war" between the U.S and China, given its negative impact on global operations.

She said that Russia is monitoring developments and will take the necessary measures to minimize the damage.

Commenting on the "tariff war" between the US and China, Zakharova said during a press conference, according to Sputnik, "We would like to point out that any shocks to the global economy, which threaten to slow its growth rate and lead to a general decline in consumption, will have negative impacts on many global operations, and this is even more concerning when it comes to the world's two major economies."

Zakharova explained that Russia is closely monitoring developments, adding: "We will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the possible consequences and take the necessary measures to minimize the potential damage to our country."

Earlier today, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, commenting on the 104% US tariffs, affirmed that China will continue to take decisive action to protect its interests.

Lin Jian said, "The legitimate rights of the Chinese people to development cannot be taken away, and China's sovereignty, security, and development interests cannot be infringed upon."

White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt confirmed on Tuesday that tariffs on Chinese imports would be increased, explaining that these duties would take effect on Wednesday local time. According to Western media reports, the United States has raised tariffs on Chinese goods to 104%.
