Kyiv - Saba:
Sources from "Europol - European Police" warned on Friday that Ukraine could turn into a global hub for black market arms trade.
The British newspaper "The Telegraph" reported that Europol warned that "the stockpiles of weapons, drones, and ammunition left after the fighting could be exploited by organized crime syndicates."
The newspaper pointed out that Europol cited the experience of the Balkans, where the largest black market for arms emerged after the wars in the region, warning that a similar scenario could quickly unfold in Ukraine after the end of military operations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously stated that Ukraine is selling arms to the Middle East, from where they are later smuggled to various parties.
Several media reports have also indicated that part of the Western weapons sent to Kyiv has leaked into the black market, a fact that European officials have also confirmed.
