Beirut - Saba:

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Monday that Lebanon is following up on its contacts at various levels to push "Israel" to abide by the ceasefire agreement, withdraw on the specified date, and return the prisoners.

Aoun stated, during his meeting with the delegation of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, that "the sponsors of the agreement must assume their responsibility in helping us in this."

He stressed that the Zionist enemy cannot be trusted, "and we are afraid of not achieving the full withdrawal tomorrow, Tuesday, and the Lebanese response will be through a unified and comprehensive national position."

Aoun stressed, according to Al-Mayadeen website, that "the option of war is not useful, and we will work through diplomatic means, because Lebanon can no longer tolerate a new war, and the army is ready to be stationed in the villages and towns from which the Israelis will withdraw."

The Lebanese President reiterated that the important thing is to achieve the Israeli withdrawal, while Hezbollah's weapons come within the framework of solutions agreed upon by the Lebanese themselves.

Aoun reassured the Lebanese, saying: "There is no fear of sectarian strife in Lebanon, nor of division within the ranks of the army. The army martyrs who fell during the Israeli aggression belong to all sects and from all regions of Lebanon, and the army's mission is sacred, so rest assured of that."
