Lebanon files new complaint to UN Security Council against Zionist entity
[04/ February/2025]
Beirut - Saba:

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed on Tuesday a new complaint to the UN Security Council in response to the Zionist entity's violation of Resolution 1701 and the declaration of a cessation of hostilities, and its complete disregard for its obligations related to enhanced security arrangements towards the implementation of Resolution 1701.

The complaint addressed the Zionist enemy's continued violations of the declaration of a cessation of hostilities since it entered into force on November 27, 2024, and its continued land and air attacks and destruction of homes and residential neighborhoods, in addition to committing serious violations represented by kidnappings of Lebanese citizens, including soldiers in the Lebanese army, and assaulting civilians returning to their border villages, which led to the martyrdom of about 24 civilians and the injury of more than 124.

The complaint indicated that the Zionist enemy targeted Lebanese army patrols and press correspondents, in addition to removing five specific signs on the withdrawal line (the Blue Line), in a clear violation of Resolution 1701 And for Lebanese sovereignty.

The complaint stressed "Lebanon's rejection of these systematic Zionist attacks and violations and its rejection of the Zionist enemy removing the withdrawal line markers and any attempt by it to re-establish these markers unilaterally."

Lebanon called on "the Security Council to take a firm and clear position towards these repeated violations, and to work to oblige the Zionist enemy to respect its obligations."

It also called for "strengthening support for the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces, to ensure the protection of Lebanese sovereignty and the safety of Lebanese citizens."
