A British parliamentary committee late on Friday called on its government to set a timetable for recognizing an independent Palestinian state, and to do everything in its power to ensure that "Israel" adheres to international law.
The International Development Committee in the British Parliament published a report on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, developments in the West Bank, and the conditions of displaced Palestinians.
The report indicated that "a large number of civilian casualties and the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza as a result of Zionist attacks", stressing that the decisions of international courts indicate the risk of violating international law in Gaza.
It added: "We believe that there is a reasonable risk that the Zionist military operations in Gaza involve violations of international humanitarian law that could lead to accusations of genocide."
The report called on the British government to announce a timetable for recognizing the independent Palestinian state, stressing that its recognition is important for achieving permanent and sustainable peace.
