Greenland's Prime Minister Motti Egede said on US President-elect Donald Trump's threat to annex his country to the United States that "the people of the Arctic region, which is rich in minerals, do not want to be Americans."
The Greenland Prime Minister added in a press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, in Copenhagen, that "Greenland is for the people of Greenland. We do not want to be Danish, and we do not want to be Americans. We want to be Greenlandic."
However, he pointed out that he nevertheless understands US President-elect Donald Trump's interest in the island, given its strategic location.
The Greenland Prime Minister said that he is open to further cooperation with Washington.
