European stock indices opened lower on Friday - the start of trading for the week - after a stumbling start for stocks around the world with the new year 2025.
The Stoxx Europe 600 index of European stocks recorded a decline of 0.27% by one point to reach 509 points, and the FTSE 100 index on the British Stock Exchange fell by 0.08% by 6 points to reach 8253 points.
