Snowstorms in Bosnia, Herzegovina
[24/ December/2024]
Sarajevo - Saba:
Authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that power was cut off to tens of thousands of homes in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina, after heavy snowfall accompanied by strong winds.

The local electricity authority "Electroprivrida", one of three electricity service companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said in a statement today, Tuesday: "Electricity is currently cut off to about 60,000 subscribers as a result of heavy snowfall accompanied by winds."

The storm is expected to intensify in the coming days, with snowfall reaching 100 centimeters in height in mountainous areas by tomorrow evening.

It is worth noting that Bosnia and Herzegovina experienced a dry winter last year, as no snow fell, which led to a decline in the levels of lakes and rivers. Heavy rains led to floods last October, which resulted in the death of 27 people in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
