Moscow - Saba:
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov expressed Moscow's readiness to consider a new exchange of prisoners and detainees with the West, similar to the August 2024 deal.
Ryabkov said on NBC News today that he could not promise such negotiations, but noted that such exchanges that improve relations between Russia and the United States could be “a useful step, especially as the new administration of US President-elect Donald Trump begins its work.”
In August 2024, eight detainees and prisoners were returned to Russia as part of an exchange deal with Western countries, which received a similar number of their citizens detained and imprisoned in Russia.
