Ramallah - Saba:
The Palestinian Prisoners and Freed Detainees Authority has reported that the conditions of detainees in "Raymon" prison have reached miserable conditions, especially the sick and the old.
The Authority said in a statement issued Tuesday that the prison administration deliberately adopted the method of continuous inspections and daily suppression of detainees' rooms, with the aim of restricting and torturing them, and depriving them of their most basic rights.
The Authority's lawyer reported that sick and old detainees suffer miserable conditions inside the occupation prisons, indicating that detainee Nahed al-Aqraa suffers from the oppression of the jailer, ill-treatment and humiliation, and what makes his situation worse is that he has amputated legs and is in a wheelchair, and the jailers recently seized his wheelchair.
It pointed out that the prisoner al-Aqraa from the Gaza Strip has been detained for 17 years and takes 14 pills daily, and because of the large amount of medicine he takes daily, he needs stomach medicine, and the prison administration has refused to give it to him for eight months.
The prisoner al-Aqraa suffers from the prison guards’ deliberate humiliation of him daily and during transportation and inspection operations, as they threw him to the ground during his recent transport by bus, and he is also subjected to strip searches and stripping, in addition to the fact that the prison guards stole his gold ring during October 2024, taking advantage of his presence in the bathroom.
The Prisoners’ Affairs Authority indicated that the lawyer was able to visit the following detainees in “Ramon”:
Saleh Abu Fara (42 years old) from the city of Ramallah, arrested on 11/30/2023, and has not been sentenced yet.
