FM meets Resident Coordinator & UN representatives working in Yemen

SANA'A September 04. 2024 (Saba)- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Ahmed Amer met on Wednesday with Acting UN Resident Coordinator Peter Hawkins and representatives of UN organizations, programs and agencies operating in the Republic of Yemen.

During the meeting, they discussed aspects of cooperation between Yemen and the UN organizations operating in Yemen and ways to enhance and develop them.

During the meeting, FM expressed that the Government of Change and Construction welcomes the existing cooperation with the United Nations, which is in line with the supreme leadership directives included in the government program approved by the parliament.

Minister Amer stressed that the Government of Change and Construction attaches the utmost importance to the issue of the security and safety of international organizations and their workers in order to exercise their tasks safely , intensify their efforts and projects in the development and humanitarian aspects, especially as the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate.

He explained that he understands that there are pressures on the United Nations by some donors, especially the United States of America, which exerts severe pressure, which led to a decrease in the percentage of funding for humanitarian projects implemented in Yemen, as a form of punishment for the principled position of the Republic of Yemen in support of the Palestinian brothers in Gaza Strip, who are subjected to the most severe types of violations and war crimes by the Zionist enemy in light of a shameful international silence.

For his part, Acting UN Resident Coordinator Hawkins expressed the UN's appreciation to the President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi Al-Mashat, who stressed the importance of strengthening relations and cooperation with the UN and international organizations.

He appreciated the UN's appreciation for the spirit of cooperation shown by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, stressing that they are committed to the rules governing relations between the Government of Change and Construction , the United Nations and its affiliated organizations.
