MOSCOW September 04. 2024 (Saba) - Russia has condemned the United States' seizure of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro's plane as a blatant violation of international law, reaffirming its support for Venezuela.
In a statement released on September 4, 2024, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the U.S. for its repeated disregard of international standards and for its "neo-colonial" approach.
She noted that this incident is not isolated, recalling a previous seizure of a Venezuelan plane in Argentina.
Zakharova condemned the U.S. action as an act of "theft" masked by a facade of moral pretense and reaffirmed Russia's solidarity with Venezuela in its struggle to recover its assets and uphold its sovereignty.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry also condemned the seizure as an act of piracy.
