
SANA'A September 01. 2024 (Saba)-The Health and Environment Minister Dr. Ali Abdulkarim Sheiban inspected on Sunday the workflow at the National Laboratory for Drug Control of the Higher Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies (HAMS).
The minister, accompanied by his deputy Dr. Nasher Al-Qaoud, listened to an explanation from the head of the Authority, Dr. Ali Abbas, about the services provided by the laboratory and its capabilities that ensure optimal drug testing and ensure the existence of safe and effective medicines, in addition to the needs it requires to increase its production capacity.
During the visit, Minister Sheiban stressed the need to focus on pharmaceutical security and modernize work mechanisms to prevent the exploitation of the circumstances the country is going through and to seize any counterfeit medicines or those of lower quality and effectiveness or harmful to the citizen's health .
He stressed the importance of being responsible and working professionally away from any influences that do not serve the pharmaceutical market. He pointed out the need to encourage local pharmaceutical industries and provide all capabilities to contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical sector in Yemen and ensure the provision of the health sector's needs of medicines and provide a strategic stock that meets the country's needs during the next phase.
