
MAHWEET August 29. 2024 (Saba) - Minister of Transport and Public Works, representative of the Supreme Committee for Emergencies and Flood Damage, Mohammed Qahim, on Thursday, inspected the damage caused by floods and rock collapses in Malhan District, Al-Mahwit Governorate, as a result of the heavy rains that it witnessed during the past two days.
Minister Qahim, accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Local Council in the Governorate, Ali Al-Zikam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni News Agency, Saba, Nasr Al-Din Amer, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Administration and Local and Rural Development, Ammar Al-Hareb, Director of the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, Engineer Shihab Al-Shami, and the Governorate's Mobilization Officer, Ismail Sharaf Al-Din, inspected the efforts to provide shelter assistance to those affected and open roads that were swept away by floods, as well as rock collapses in Malhan District.
They listened to an explanation of the extent of the damage caused by the floods that swept away a number of citizens’ homes, the casualties they caused, and the closure of roads leading to the affected areas in the Al-Qibla and Hamdan districts, in addition to the swept away of agricultural lands and water collection tanks.
