OTTAWA August 26. 2024 (Saba) - Canadian climate scientists have concluded that the record fires in Canada's forests in 2023 are mainly caused by a combination of environmental factors.
The journal "Nature Communications" reported on Monday, that scientists studied the conditions in which more than six thousand fires broke out in Canada.
The magazine quoted the researchers as saying: Several factors caused the outbreak of fires last year, including the early start of spring, the continued drought in the west of the country, and the rapid drought in the eastern regions of Canada.
Global warming caused by human activity led to the emergence of weather that increased the risk of fires, as the air temperature rose during the months of May-October by 2.2 degrees Celsius. That is, an increase of 2.5-4 degrees above the usual rate.
