GAZA August 16. 2024 (Saba) - Hamas Political Bureau member Izzat al-Rishq accused Occupation of using forced displacement as a weapon against civilians in Gaza, aiming to break their will and exacerbate their suffering, as the conflict enters its eleventh month.
In a statement reported by the "Palestine Today" news agency, al-Rishq condemned the Nazi military for compelling residents in northern Khan Yunis and eastern Deir al-Balah to move to so-called "safe areas," labeling it as a tactic to deepen collective punishment and perpetuate genocide.
He criticized the targeting of these supposed safe zones, which has led to numerous massacres of innocent civilians.
Al-Rishq argued that this systematic displacement strategy is intended to clear the way for further atrocities against the Palestinian population, actions he claims constitute war crimes under international law.
He also highlighted the severe overcrowding and deteriorating conditions resulting from these displacements, which he says are in blatant violation of international humanitarian agreements.
Al-Rishq held the U.S. administration accountable for Occupation's actions, especially as new ceasefire negotiations commence in Doha.
He urged the international community and human rights organizations to intervene and fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities to stop what he termed ongoing genocide in Gaza.
In his concluding remarks, al-Rishq called on world leaders to take decisive action against Israel, demanding an end to its aggression and the systematic war on Gaza’s civilians and infrastructure.
