Negotiations new round kick off in Doha to reach truce in Gaza Strip
[15/ August/2024]
DOHA August 15. 2024 (Saba) - A new round of negotiations began in the Qatari capital Doha on Thursday in an attempt to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza that would allow for an exchange of prisoners and hostages between the Zionist enemy and the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas".

According to Ma'an News Agency, spokesman for the White House said Qatar negotiations on a ceasefire and prisoner swap deal making progress.

"The talks in Doha are progressing," John Kirby added. "The summit is an important step – we have already narrowed some of the gaps and today we will focus on implementing the agreement.

"There is still a lot of work due to the complexity of the details. We should not expect the talks to end today. Today is a promising start."

While gaps exist in the execution of the deal, the framework is generally acceptable, he said.

The talks are headed by CIA chief William Burns and are attended by a delegation of the Zionist enemy, headed by so-called Mossad chief Dede Barnia and Egyptian Intelligence Minister Abbas Kamel.

Hamas is not actually participating in the summit, as it announced this week, but its representatives are in Doha and will be met later by mediators and presented with the position of the Zionist enemy.
