SANA'A August 14. 2024 (Saba) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Wednesday strongly condemned the ongoing violations by the Zionist entity targeting the sanctity of al-Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement, the ministry denounced the actions of extremist figures such as Itamar Ben Gvir, Minister of Internal Security, and Yitzhak Goldknopf, Minister of Housing, along with several Knesset members and around 2,500 settlers who stormed al-Aqsa Mosque, raised the Zionist flag, and prevented worshipers from entering. This action occurs amidst escalating war crimes and genocide by the Zionist entity in Gaza.
The ministry highlighted that these violations aim to alter the characteristics of holy sites in al-Quds and to Judaize them. It warned of the potential consequences if such violations continue, stressing that they could intensify confrontations in the Palestinian territories and pose a direct threat to regional and international peace and security.
The Zionist authorities, as the occupying power, are responsible for protecting Palestinian civilians under international law, including the four Geneva Conventions.
The statement also noted that these violations reflect the failure of Zionist efforts to win the support of Arab peoples, especially as some Arab and Islamic regimes have normalized relations with the Zionist entity contrary to the desires of the Arab populace, who support the Palestinian cause.
The ministry urged countries supporting the Zionist entity to heed the call of Mr. Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, who voices the sentiments of millions of Arabs and people around the world. It called for an end to the aggression in Gaza, the lifting of the siege, and the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid.
It called on the UN Security Council, the UN Human Rights Council, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Arab League to condemn these Zionist practices and fulfill their responsibility to protect civilians and holy sites in the Palestinian territories.
