DHALE' August 13. 2024 (Saba) – Dhale' acting governor Abdullatif al-Shagdari on Tuesday conducted an inspection visit to assess the progress of al-Hamma dam project in Hajjaj area in Juban distict.
The project, with a budget of 295 million Y.R and a storage capacity of approximately 270,000 cubic meters, is being carried out through a community initiative with support from the Central Emergency Interventions Unit, which is providing cement and diesel.
The dam is expected to benefit over six thousand people in the region and neighboring villages.
During the visit, Governor al-Shagdari received updates from project managers, who reported that the project is 80 percent complete.
He announced an additional five million Y.R in support from the local authority to help finish the project, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the approved technical specifications and expediting completion to take advantage of the current rainy season.
Governor al-Shagdari also inspected the water level in the dam and urged the community to continue supporting such initiatives, highlighting the benefits of these projects in irrigating agricultural lands and replenishing groundwater wells, while cautioning against the use of water for Qat cultivation.
