Abu Marzouq calls on UN Security Council to implement Chapter VII to stop Zionist massacre
[10/ August/2024]
NEW YORK August 10. 2024 (Saba) - Hamas leader Musa Abu Marzouq called on the UN Security Council to take urgent action to stop the genocidal massacres in Gaza Strip, based on Chapter VII of the UN Charter.

The Palestinian Information Center quoted Abu Marzouq today, Saturday, as saying: The massacre committed by the Zionist enemy against the displaced people in the Tabi'een School, under the pretext of the presence of military leaders, carries a message that it is continuing the battle, and is thus nullifying all the efforts it is making to stop the war.

Chapter VII of the UN Charter relates to the measures taken by the Security Council in cases that threaten the peace, breach it, the occurrence of aggression, and consists of 13 articles starting from Article 39 to 51.

Abu Marzouq stressed in statements to Al-Arabiya TV that the political and military behavior of the United States of America with "Israel" negates its claims of making diplomatic efforts to end the war.

He added: "The United States claims that it wants a ceasefire, and at the same time sends three billion dollars worth of ammunition to the entity. This means more killing and encouragement of more killing. This is hypocrisy practiced by the Americans."

Abu Marzouq criticized Egypt, saying: "It has special responsibilities towards Gaza Strip and cannot consider itself a mediator."

He added: "Egypt is the one that signed the Camp David Accords with "Israel" and created the Philadelphi Corridor between the Palestinians , the Egyptians, and now it has allowed the Zionists to be present in this axis; Egypt has special responsibilities to stop these massacres, and it is capable of stopping them in one day."

He added: "The medicine and food available on the Egyptian side are enough to treat and feed the people of Gaza. The nation and the international community cannot remain silent as graves in the face of what is happening against our people in Palestine."

He stressed Hamas's response to all requests from mediators in Egypt and Qatar, "the latest of which was Biden's initiative itself, and we agreed to the amendments presented by the Zionists and Americans; but Netanyahu set new conditions." He pointed out that the tripartite call for ceasefire negotiations "is a floating call, and what is required is to implement what was agreed upon." He stressed Hamas's welcome to all efforts made to achieve this goal.
