HODEIDA August 07. 2024 (Saba) - The Public Prosecution Office in Hodeida Province approved on Wednesday the conditional release of 20 prisoners.

The Head of the Appeal Prosecution Office in Hodeida Province, Judge Hadi Ayda, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the release came in implementation of the instructions of the Attorney General, in application of the text of Article 506 of the Criminal Procedures Law and beyond, regarding prisoners sentenced to custodial sentences.

He pointed out that the law guarantees conditional release for prisoners who have served three-quarters of their prison sentence, do not have special rights to others, and their cases are not appealed, do not pose a serious social danger, and do not have a criminal record after obtaining certificates of good conduct, correction, reform and psychological rehabilitation.

The province's Conditional Release Committee, in a meeting chaired by Judge Ayda, and including the Director of the Social Affairs Office, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sayegh, and the Director of the Central Correctional Facility, Colonel Mansour Al-Hasani, reviewed the reports of social researchers from Social Affairs, and certificates of good conduct from the correctional facility for convicted prisoners, who are candidates for conditional release, according to the lists and memoranda of the primary prosecutions.
