TAIZ August 07. 2024 (Saba) - Heavy rains that fell on Maqbanah district in Taiz province caused the death , disappearance of 15 people, and swept away agricultural lands, roads, property, palm trees and mango trees.
According to a report by the local council in the district, the houses of 120 families were damaged, the number of those killed and missing reached 15 people, while the floods buried 87 hand-dug wells, damaged two artesian wells, swept away 50 pumps and six solar energy systems designated for the agricultural sector.
The report stated that the damage included most of the main and secondary roads, agricultural lands, water resources from groundwater , surface wells, and citizens' properties.
It stressed that the main roads have been opened for a distance of up to 30 kilometers, work is underway at a high pace to open the main roads as a first stage, then open the secondary roads , identify the needs of citizens and provide the services that the floods damaged.
The acting governor of Taiz, Ahmed Al-Masawi, directed the service offices and the local council in Maqbanah district to open the roads and address the flood damage , harness the equipment of the works , roads , the executive unit and agriculture to confront the damage caused by the floods.
