
MOSCOW August 06. 2024 (Saba) - The acting governor of the Russian province of Kursk, Alexei Smirnov, on Tuesday said air defenses destroyed 11 Ukrainian drones over the territory of the province during last night.
Sputnik quoted Smirnov as saying in a Telegram post: "In the skies over the Kursk region, the air defense forces destroyed 11 other Ukrainian drones. I thank our defenders."
Earlier, the acting governor of the province said that three Ukrainian drones had been shot down in the area. Later, he said that air defenses intercepted and destroyed 12 additional Ukrainian drones over the territory of the province, bringing the number of drones shot down overnight to 26.
Ukrainian forces target almost daily Russian border areas in the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, Rostov and Crimea provinces with drones and missiles.
