
BAYDA August 06. 2024 (Saba) — Bayda governor Abdullah Idris held on Tuesday a meeting in Bayda province to assess the progress of agricultural and fisheries projects funded by the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit.
Province undersecretaries Abdullah al Jamali and Saleh al-Mansouri reviewed a detailed report by Mohammed al Haidari, Director of the Agricultural Initiatives Financing Unit.
The report detailed the status of 26 ongoing agricultural projects, with a total expenditure of 667,706,000 Y.R.
The agenda for this year includes 18 new agricultural projects, valued at 338 million Y.R, covering agricultural and animal sectors, as well as the restoration of dams and water barriers and capacity-building initiatives.
Engineer Mohammed al-Yafai, representing the Potato Company from the General Company for Potato Seed Production in Dhamar province, provided an update on a significant project in Mukayras district.
The 34 million Y.R project involves overhauling the central refrigerator, repairing mechanical and electrical systems, modernizing facilities, and rehabilitating four warehouses for natural air cooling. Additionally, it includes upgrading equipment for sorting and distributing potato seeds.
Governor Idris underscored the need for robust coordination between agricultural sector authorities and the Initiatives Projects Financing Unit to drive sustainable agricultural development.
Idris emphasized the importance of boosting agricultural marketing, expanding market opportunities, and establishing rainwater harvesting systems to support groundwater recharge.
The Governor also called for enhanced support for community irrigation initiatives, a thorough assessment of dams and water barriers, and effective execution of agricultural projects throughout the year.
