Capital Sana'a meeting discusses preparations for National Festival of Apples, Pomegranates, Grapes, and Dates

SANA'A August 05. 2024 (Saba) - On Monday, the preparatory meeting for the first national festival of the value chain of agricultural products of "apples, pomegranates, grapes, and dates" to be launched on the 17th of this month was held in Sana'a city.

The meeting, which was organized by the Capital Sanaa represented by the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Municipality in coordination with the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, discussed the ongoing tasks and preparations for the launch of the festival with the participation of all concerned in the agriculture sector and the import and export of agricultural products.

In the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture - Deputy Chairman of the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Committee, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, pointed out the importance of the meeting to discuss the roles assigned to farmers, importers, exporters, the Chamber of Commerce, the Secretariat, and the Ministries of Agriculture and Industry, which contributes to the success of the festival.

He stressed the importance of benefiting from the experiences of past seasons, which had a major role in promoting and highlighting the local products appropriately, especially after targeting agricultural products within the economic war on Yemen. He pointed out that agricultural products represent the backbone of the national economy, which requires everyone to play their role in this aspect.

Al-Rubai considered the national festivals of agricultural products an opportunity to highlight and promote local products. He stressed the need to coordinate with the Capital Municipality to establish and manage agricultural festivals according to a correct methodology and mechanism to ensure their sustainability.

He pointed out that the Supreme Agricultural Committee, in coordination with the Capital Municipality, will seek during the coming period to establish a permanent exhibition of agricultural products in a way that contributes to supporting and encouraging farmers, importers, and marketers.
