Training program on inverter operation, maintenance launches for water, sanitation sector employees

SANA'A August 03. 2024 (Saba) - A new training program focusing on the operation and maintenance of "mppt" inverters and control panels has commenced on Saturday in Sana'a province.

Organized by the Human Resources Development Center for the Water Sector at the Ministry of Water and Environment, the six-day program is funded by UNICEF and aims to enhance the skills of 30 employees from the water and sanitation sector.

Deputy Minister of Water and Environment Hanin al-Duraib highlighted the program's significance, noting it as a critical opportunity to address current challenges and improvements in water institutions, particularly those transitioning from diesel to solar energy systems.

Al-Duraib emphasized the need for effective planning and management to avoid past issues and reduce operational costs.

UNICEF Representative Anis al-Arashi praised the collaboration with the Ministry and outlined past and ongoing solar energy projects supported by UNICEF, including initiatives in Taiz and Amran provinces.

Al-Arashi stressed the importance of this training in ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of these projects.

Director General of Water Sector Reform and Local Institutions Zaid al-Kuhlani commended the Deputy Minister's efforts in advancing training and alternative energy solutions.

Al-Kuhlani also mentioned ongoing and upcoming training courses supported by UNICEF to further develop technical skills in the sector.

The training program, led by national trainer Dr. Abdulaziz al-Dhabhani, is expected to provide valuable insights and practical skills for managing solar energy systems and improving overall water sector operations.
