ALGERIA July 30. 2024 (Saba) - Algeria has recalled its ambassador from France in response to the French government's endorsement of Morocco's autonomy plan for Western Sahara.
The Algerian Foreign Ministry condemned France's support, accusing it of endorsing colonial rule and disregarding the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination.
The ministry criticized France for undermining UN efforts to decolonize the region and announced that diplomatic responsibilities in France will now be handled by a Chargé d'Affaires.
