RAMALLAH July 17. 2024 (Saba) - The Palestinian Commission for Prisoners and Ex-Detainees Affairs revealed that the prisoners in Shata prison live a difficult health and life reality, as the prison administration continues to deal with them with hatred, racism and revenge, and they are constantly beaten and abused, in addition to starvation, lack of food, and deprivation of treatment and medicines.
The Commission revealed in a report today, Wednesday, according to the Palestinian News Agency, that there is a clear policy in targeting the leaders and symbols of the prisoner movement, where (101 prisoners) are detained in prison, including (30 prisoners) sentenced to life imprisonment - for life, a large number of them have broken ribs in their back, chests and fingers of their hands, and deliberately beat them on sensitive places in a brutal way and shed blood from their bodies and heads, and insulting and cursing with profanity, and insulting in order to undermine their psychology and morale.
The prisoners conveyed to the Commission's lawyer that there are neurological and psychological cases among the prisoners, who are left by the prison administration without medicine or painkillers, and therefore involuntary actions are issued by them, which the jailers exploit to break into the rooms and assault them, knowing that their cases are known and they have files in the prison clinic.
The Commission condemned the continued international and institutional silence on what is happening inside prisons and detention centers, which gives the occupation government and its prison administration more motivation towards the abuse of prisoners, as it turned their lives into a real hell.
