UNRWA: Gaza has become isolated from arrival of aid, its streets are flattened
[13/ July/2024]

NEW YORK July 13. 2024 (Saba) -The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that "Gaza City has become mostly cut off from the arrival of international aid, and its streets have been flattened ."

UNRWA communications officer Louise Wateridge said on Saturday, "After nine months of war, Gaza City has become one of the most deprived cities in the Strip, often cut off from international aid access, and entire streets have been razed to the ground by Israeli airstrikes."

Commenting on the issuance two days ago by the occupying forces of a new "evacuation" order for Gaza City ordering all its residents to flee south, Wateridge explained that "as the UN convoy approached the city, we saw some Palestinian families leaving on foot, seemingly seeking refuge in the south."

"The people of Gaza City raised their hands in the air as they walked towards Israeli checkpoints, while the weather was scorching and there was little shade," she said.

Describing the situation of displaced children with their parents from Gaza, Wateridge noted that they "often carried white flags on sticks made of any white cloth they could find."

"The families she met there were living in dire conditions," she stressed.

Many of the women the UN official spoke to described their births as "painful" without health care, and the girls spoke of a lack of clean water or any sanitary products.
