NAIROBI July 12. 2024 (Saba) - The Kenyan President William Ruto on Friday fired his entire cabinet except the Foreign Minister.

"After thinking and listening carefully to the demands of our people and after conducting a comprehensive assessment of the performance of my government, its achievements and the challenges it has faced, I have decided, in line with the authorities under the Constitution, to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet ministers and the Attorney General," Local media quoted Ruto as saying in a speech broadcast on television, however, the Vice-president position was not affected by the decision.

“I will immediately conduct broad consultations with various sectors, whether public or private, political parties and Kenyan citizens, with the aim of forming a broad-based government,” he added.

“During the consultation period, the government’s work will continue without interruption under the supervision of senior officials and other relevant officials... and I will announce additional measures and steps at the appropriate time,” he explained.

Ruto retained Vice President Rigathi Gachagwa and Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi, who is also Chief Cabinet Secretary.
