UNRWA: New displacement in central Gaza, sanitation & infrastructure at risk
[06/ July/2024]

NEW YORK July 06. 2024 (Saba) -The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed today that "the people of Gaza are facing new forced displacement amid a loss of hope and uncertainty of safety due to the lack of a safe place to go."

In an interview with The New York Times, UNRWA communications officer Louise Waterridge explained that "Palestinian families in Gaza are losing hope and willpower as they face new forced displacement amid absolute safety uncertainty."

She stressed that the people of Gaza have nowhere safe to go, so a ceasefire must be stopped now.

On the other hand, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that "children in the Gaza Strip spend between six to eight hours a day fetching water and food, often carrying heavy weights, and walking long distances."

The UN agency added, in a post on its account on the "X" platform on the situation in the Gaza Strip, that "sanitation facilities and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip are at great risk, forcing thousands of families to rely on seawater for bathing, cleaning and even drinking."

UNRWA renewed its demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
