LONDON July 4. 2024 (Saba) - Reuters news agency, citing three maritime and security sources, revealed on Wednesday that the tanker "Lavante", which drifted off the coast of Yemen and was left by its crew, has disappeared and is believed to have sunk, to become the latest missing ship in the Red Sea.
Al-Masadi said the tanker reported engine failure and water leakage.
Russian cargo group, Sofcomblot, said last week that one of its ships responded to a distress call and rescued the crew off Yemen's southern coast on June 23 after they were forced to leave the tanker by lifeboat.
Maritime and security sources said on Wednesday that the tanker may have sunk after drifting for several days. It was not immediately clear if it was carrying fuel on board
