Resistance to wall and settlements: enemy seizes vast areas of Aqraba’s lands
[03/ July/2024]
RAMALLAH July 03. 2024 (Saba) - Minister Moayed Shaaban, head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, disclosed that Israeli authorities have confiscated 12,715 dunams of land belonging to citizens in the village of Aqraba, southeast of Nablus, alleging that these lands are now considered state property.

According to Palestinian Wafa News Agency, Minister Shaaban stated today that the affected lands are situated in Basin No. 13, a natural area of Jabal al-Qurain, and Basin No. 14, encompassing Jabal al-Qurain, Jabal al-Mastra, and Talaat Umrah sites within Aqraba village.

The Israeli occupation's strategy behind such declarations is to integrate these lands into expanding settlement projects across Palestinian territories, effectively prohibiting citizens from accessing or utilizing them under the pretext of state ownership. This effort is part of a broader agenda aimed at controlling the eastern slopes of the West Bank, particularly those adjoining the Jordan Valley and its borders.

Shaaban emphasized that since the beginning of the year, Israeli authorities have issued four such declarations converting citizens' lands into state-owned, totaling 24,000 dunams affected so far. The cumulative land seized under various pretexts since the year's outset has now reached 39,000 dunams.

The Commission urged affected landowners to promptly visit its offices to complete necessary legal documentation in order to challenge and overturn the occupation's seizure orders.
