Starting differentiation exams for free seats in Yemeni universities for year 1446 AH

SANA'A June 30. 2024 (Saba) - The electronic examination center at the College of Dentistry, Sana'a University, began today, Sunday, to compete for free seats in Yemeni universities in the fields of medicine, engineering, administrative and human sciences, for which eight thousand , 859 male and female students applied for the academic year 1446 AH.

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research - Chairman of the Free Seats Committee, Dr. Ali Sharaf Al-Din, along with the members of the committee , the Undersecretaries of the Educational Institutions Sectors, Dr. Ghaleb Al-Qanis, and the Scholarships, Hassan Ezz Al-Din, were briefed on the progress of the competency exams for students competing for free seats in medical specialties, for which about four had applied. Thousands and 651 male and female students are taking the proficiency exam in chemistry, biology and English.

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Sharaf El-Din, indicated that the comparison criteria will be transparent and fair according to the results of the proficiency exam, which was approved at about 60 percent, as well as the high school average, which was approved at about 40 percent, which will enable the student to know the results of the exams and the comparison at the same time, immediately after the end of the exam. directly .

Sharaf Al-Din pointed out that the free seats solved many of the problems facing outstanding students after the cessation of external scholarships as a result of the aggression against the country, and made them obtain free seats and study in the specializations they desired with all flexibility and ease, noting the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership in adopting free scholarships in 2016 AD by 5 percent of the capacity in private universities and 10 percent in public universities, allocating it to specific groups.

The Deputy Minister attributed the smoothness and flexibility of the comparison during this year to the increase in the number of computers as well as servers leading to the speed of processing the data entered by Sana'a University, and the preparation of educational videos about the registration, admission , examination process , circulating it on websites and social media networks, in addition to the accumulated experience of students applying and those in charge of free seats.
