OCCUPIED AL-QUDS June 28. 2024 (Saba) - Thousands of Palestinian citizens performed Friday Prayers in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, amid strict military measures imposed by the Zionist authorities on access to the mosque.
According to Palestinian news agencies, the Islamic Endowments Department in Al-Quds estimated that only about 30,000 citizens performed Friday Prayers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Local sources reported that enemy forces set up their checkpoints in the vicinity of the Old City and at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, checked the identities of those coming to perform prayers, and prevented a number of them from reaching the mosque to perform prayers. They also attacked a Palestinian guard from the 1948 territories, and obstructed the work of press crews at Lions’ Gate.
Enemy forces continue to impose severe restrictions on the entry of worshipers to Al-Aqsa, especially during Fridays, and prevent many citizens from performing prayers.
The enemy authorities deprive thousands of citizens from the West Bank governorates from reaching Al-Quds to perform prayers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, as they require special permits to cross the military checkpoints surrounding the Holy City.
Since the start of the comprehensive Zionist-American aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, last October, enemy forces have intensified their measures at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the entrances to the Old City.
