SANA'A June 26. 2024 (Saba) - The national youth team on Tuesday began its participation in the West Asian Championship, with a valuable draw with its Saudi counterpart, with two goals to the same, in the match that brought them together in the first round of the group competitions.
The Saudi national team opened the scoring with a goal scored by player Rakan Al-Ghamdi in the 36th minute, before Shabab Al-Yemen equalized through Mohammed Al-Barwani from a header in the 40th minute, ending the first half with this result.
In the second half, specifically at the 64th minute, the Saudi team succeeded in scoring the lead goal again through Bassam Hazazi, but the Yemeni players refused to lose by scoring the equalizer from a free ball executed by Anwar Al-Tariqi inside the penalty area.
The ball hit the Saudi defense and scratched the net, ending the match in a positive draw 2/ 2.
With this result, the national team, led by its coach, Mohammed Al-Baadani, placed a valuable point in the group standings table, which is led by the Omani team, which won against Kuwait 2-1.
