BEIJING June 25. 2024 (Saba) - China emphasized the importance of avoiding trade protectionism on a global scale, cautioning against using "green and environmentally friendly development" as a pretext for restrictive trade policies.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang addressed attendees at the 15th annual meeting of the Summer Davos Forum in Dalian, northeastern China, as reported by Xinhua news agency on Tuesday. Li underscored the responsibility of countries and regions to reduce emissions without compromising the pace of green transformation for short-term economic gains.

Highlighting the potential of green transition for economic growth, Li advocated for the advancement of low-carbon and environmentally friendly industries to spur the green economy. He called for international collaboration to oppose bloc confrontation and disengagement, emphasizing the need to maintain stability in industrial and supply chains while promoting liberalization of trade and investment.

Li further noted China's unique advantages in fostering new industries, citing its large domestic market, comprehensive industrial system, abundant human resources, diverse application scenarios, and strong consumer acceptance of new technologies.

He explained that China's economy, as it continues to expand, effectively reduces the costs of innovation for enterprises, accommodates various technological approaches, and promotes the evolution of business models.
