TUNIS June 13. 2024 (Saba) - The head of the Geneva Council for Human Rights and former advisor to the Tunisian presidency, Anwar al-Gharbi, revealed Thursday efforts made by international human rights institutions to prosecute and hold accountable European and American officials, against the backdrop of their role in supporting the war of genocide and starvation against the Gaza Strip in national courts.
Al-Gharbi said, in a special interview with the Palestinian Safa News Agency, that an official case has been filed against the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, regarding her support for "Israel", in a number of national courts of countries that allow the prosecution of war criminals, such as Switzerland, Germany, France and Spain.
He explained that papers are being prepared regarding American officials, including the seven legislators who threatened the International Criminal Court, demanding that the court hold them accountable for their insolence towards the court and issue arrest warrants against them.
Al-Gharbi added, "We have the information and documents that qualify us to hold many American officials accountable, as we are currently pursuing "Israeli" officials in the courts of national regimes."
He stressed that "the most dangerous thing Washington is doing is the systematic destruction of the entire international system that was built since World War II," citing reports by UN special rapporteurs that describe the American role as obstructive to their work.
He stated that Washington is a partner in the war of extermination and starvation against the Palestinian people, and that this is a criminal act without a doubt.
Al-Gharbi said that the policy of starvation is an attack on international law and international justice, and a return to the logic of the jungle, force and international arrogance, and "this is not the logic of countries to attack the International Criminal Court."
Al-Gharbi added that the American administration and legislators' attack on the court and intimidation of them is unprecedented, and means that Washington is a partner and even has the decision in its hands in the policy of starvation and in the decision of war and peace as well.
He continued, "If Washington wanted to stop the war, it would have done so, and if it wanted to stop the starvation, it would have done so."
The former advisor to the Tunisian presidency stressed that America is fully involved in the crime and that the data they have will allow them to pursue Washington's leaders in international courts.
Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy forces have been waging a war on Gaza that has left tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction of the infrastructure.
