BEIJING June 12. 2024 (Saba) - China on Wednesday called on the United States to cancel its illegal and unilateral sanctions against Chinese companies, stressing that it strongly opposes and condemns Washington's fabrication and spread of disinformation about the situation in Xinjiang.
The Xinhua News Agency quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian as saying in a press conference in response to a notice from the US Department of Homeland Security in which Washington added three Chinese companies to a list banning imports from them.
The remarkable achievements in the development of the Xinjiang region are clear and the central government’s policies are clear. It resonated deeply with the people, Lin said.
Lin added we have repeatedly cited numbers and facts to refute the baseless narratives about the Xinjiang region, indicating that these narratives are lies created by a small number of anti-China individuals to disrupt the development of the region.
The Chinese spokesman urged the US side to immediately stop distorting China's image, cancel its illegal unilateral sanctions against Chinese companies, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, and undermining its interests under the guise of human rights.
Lin stressed that his country will continue to take firm measures to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of Chinese companies.
