NIZHNY NOVGOROD June 11. 2024 (Saba) - The foreign ministers of the BRICS countries expressed their support for granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations, stressing their adherence to the Two-State Solution.

The final statement issued by the ministers' meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, on Monday, stated: The foreign ministers support granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations and affirm their strict adherence to the Two-State Solution, which must be achieved on the basis of the norms of international law and the provisions of the Arab Peace initiative, according to RT.

The ministers stressed that sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine must be established within the internationally recognized borders of 1967, and that East Quds must be its capital.

Last May, the United Nations General Assembly supported granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations with 143 votes in favor and nine votes against.

The vote took place in the United Nations General Assembly after the United States used its veto against a UNSC draft resolution regarding Palestine’s membership in the international body.
