
RAYMAH June 10. 2024 (Saba) - A workshop was held on Monday to introduce the water map and enhance community initiatives, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture's Irrigation and Land Reclamation Sector in coordination with the Agricultural and Fisheries Committee.
The workshop, in collaboration with the Agriculture Office, the General Administration of Community Initiatives, the Executive Unit for Project and Agricultural Initiative Financing, and local authorities, aimed to familiarize directors of districts, branches of the agriculture and irrigation office, cooperative associations, and relevant executive offices with how to utilize water facilities to uplift the agricultural sector and achieve sustainable development.
During the opening, Dr. Abbas Heba, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Irrigation and Land Reclamation, outlined the water map of the province, including wells and proposed water facilities such as dams and barriers in the province's directorates.
Heba emphasized the workshop's importance in introducing the province's water map and leveraging it to achieve sustainable agricultural development.
Ibrahim al-Takruri, the director of the Agriculture Office in the province, stressed the importance of everyone's efforts to ensure the success of the water facilities project based on the water map.
He urged participants to benefit from the workshop's insights to ensure community engagement in achieving self-sufficiency, calling for prioritizing water facilities such as dams, barriers, and harvest reservoirs in the province's districts.
Abdulmalek Jahaf, the director of the Executive Unit for Agricultural Project Financing in the province, explained that the workshop is in response to the directives of the leader of the revolution, Mr. Abdulmalik al-Houthi, to enhance the agricultural sector to achieve food security and activate the role of community initiatives in the province.
He expressed hope that participants would benefit from the workshop's content regarding the water map for its economic returns, especially in agricultural aspects.
