
SANA'A June 03. 2024 (Saba) - The Specialized Criminal Court in the Capital Secretariat ruled in the case returned from the Criminal Division regarding the 11 defendants in the crime of assassinating Ibrahim Al-Houthi, who were not decided upon in the court of first instance.
The ruling in the session, which was held under the chairmanship of Judge Rabie Al-Zubair, and in the presence of the member of the prosecution, Judge Khaled Omar, ruled that ten of the defendants were convicted and one was acquitted, in the crime of participating by agreement and assisting in the kidnapping and killing of the two victims, the two martyrs Ibrahim Badr al-Din al-Houthi and Muhammad Hussein al-Badr, intentionally, as an enemy, and as collaborating with a state. The Saudi aggression with the intention of harming the political and military position of the Republic of Yemen, which is assigned to them in the indictment.
The ruling also punished the convicts, Adnan Ali Hadi Ali Marsh, Bassam Abdo Muhammad Ahmed Al-Mahbashi, Khaled Ali Qayed Hussein Al-Dhawi, Imad Al-Din Abdulaziz Rajeh Ali Al-Haddad, and Najeeb Ezzi Maan Muhammad Ghaleb, with five years in prison, and obliging the prosecution to confiscate the house where the crime was committed and confiscate phones. The convicts used in the crime were acquitted of Fouad Noman Mahboub Al-Aghbari, due to insufficient evidence.
The Criminal Division had decided that the court of first instance must quickly decide on this matter, since the case is under the custody of prisoners, and postpone deciding on the prosecution’s appeal regarding some of the convicts, as well as the appeal of the convicted appellants, until it is decided on the 11 defendants.
The Specialized Criminal Court of First Instance ruled on Muharram 25, 1445 AH, convicting the accused of this crime, punishing 16 of them with death and imprisonment from ten to three years, for three, and referring the rest to the prosecution to complete investigations.
