
SLOVENIA May 30. 2024 (Saba) - Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golub announced on Thursday that his country recognizes the State of Palestine, the fourth country to take such a step in two days.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, Golub said in a statement following the government meeting that the latter decided to recognize Palestine as an independent, sovereign state on the 1967 borders in accordance with international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
Golub added: This resolution carries only one message, which is our request to stop hostilities in Gaza, indicating that the resolution will be referred to Parliament with a request for support from the representatives.
On Tuesday, Spain, Norway and Ireland announced their recognition of the State of Palestine, bringing the number of countries recognizing it to 147 out of 193 countries in the United Nations General Assembly.
