OCCUPIED AL-QUDS May 22, 2024 (Saba) - According to Zionist enemy media sources on Wednesday, the occupying army has initiated an expansion of its operations in Rafah, with Israeli troops moving forward along the Philadelphia axis in the southern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority estimates that approximately one million Gazans have been evacuated from Rafah thus far.
On Monday, Zionist Army Minister Yoav Gallant conveyed to US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan Israel's intention to escalate its ground offensive in the city of Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip.
The Salah al-Din Axis, commonly referred to as the "Philadelphia Axis," spans from the Mediterranean Sea in the north to the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south along the Egyptian border, covering approximately 14 kilometers within the Gaza Strip.
Since May 6, the Israeli military has been conducting ground operations in Rafah, resulting in the displacement of 810,000 Palestinians, as reported by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Since October 7 of the previous year, Israel has been engaged in a conflict with Gaza, resulting in an estimated 115,000 casualties, with the majority being children and women.
