RAMALLAH May 05. 2024 (Saba) - Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has warned of what he described as a "bloodbath" if the Zionist entity carries out a military attack on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
"WHO is deeply concerned by this process, which further weakens the already broken health system," Ghebreyesus said in a post on Platform X, calling for a ceasefire.
WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain stressed that "there is a widespread famine in northern Gaza, spreading towards the south," expressing hope that the parties will reach a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible.
McCain told NBC: "When you have conflicts like this, emotions flare, things happen in war, famine happens."
She renewed her demands for a ceasefire and unhindered access to aid to people in Gaza, expressing hope that the parties would reach a ceasefire so that more aid could be delivered faster.
